All entries MUST be from product grown or made in Vermont.

  • Flower: 28g total
  • Concentrates: 3.5g total
  • Edibles: 15 ‘servings’ total
  • Topicals: 15 ‘servings’ total

The entry fee is $100/$150/$200 per category entered, depending on the category. EACH entrant’s samples will be distributed between Judge’s Kits and labs for testing. Each entrant will receive a cannabinoid profile and lab report from our testing sponsor, as well as photography of their entry and access to the Headies Awards Party.

How To Package Your Entry

When you prepare you entry, please note the rules about dividing, labeling and packaging for each category. Do NOT label your individual jars or bags, as judging is conducted blind and removing these labels creates more work for us. To recap, your SMALLER containers must not be labeled – they must be stored in a larger bag or container and you must label your OUTSIDE container with:
** Strain/product name
** Your name and/or company
** Category / Subcategory

We will have jars and other standard issue containers for you to put your material in (for flower and concentrates categories only). Pick them up for free at Green State Gardener (388 Pine Street in Burlington) or Vermont Hempicurean (8 Flat Street in Brattleboro) during their normal business hours. If you can’t make it in person or the drive is too far, you can order these for free + a nominal shipping fee in our online store and your entry kit will be shipped to you via Priority Mail. Kits will be available for competitors (in person and online) on November 1.

We prefer that you pack up your entry in advance, but you may also pack it up during Dropoff if absolutely necessary. Please give us a heads up if you plan to do this.

Flower

Please separate your one ounce (28-grams) entry into ten (10) 2-gram increments and two (2) 4-gram increments.

You must provide your own containers for your 4-gram samples. One of these 4 gram samples will be photographed, so make sure it looks nice! The other sample is for testing.  Please label these “photo” and “testing” accordingly.

If your 4-gram samples do not fit in the box, they may be placed in a bag, tupperware container, or equivalent package of your choosing.

The outside of the box must be labeled with your identifying information (name, contact information).

Concentrate

Please separate your 3.5-gram entry into ten (10) 1/4-gram increments and two 1/2-gram increments. The larger amounts are for testing and photography.

Our concentrate kit includes twelve jars for the 12 total samples. Please label the two 1/2 gram containers so that we may separate those out.

All samples for your entry must be placed in our standard issue jars, and these smaller containers may be placed in the 9×9 Competitor Box. Please fill in the outside label of the box with your identifying information.

Edibles

We require 15 individually packaged samples, each equaling one serving size, for entries in the Edibles category.

We ask that if your edible requires refrigeration, that you bring it in a cooler. We will then transfer it to our facilities where we have a kitchen onsite.

Your containers must follow our edibles labeling guidelines. You must list your ingredients for each entry on the Entry Detail form you receive during entry dropoff, as well as a 50-word description of the estimated dosage and anticipated effects. Please have this information readily on hand when you arrive.

They must also be stored in a larger bag or container and you may label your OUTSIDE container.

If you sign up for this category, we will send more information on the dosage labeling and packaging specifics.

Topicals

We require 15 individually packaged serving size samples for entries in the Topicals category. Your containers must follow our topicals labeling guidelines, and they must be stored in a larger bag or container – you may label your OUTSIDE container with your identifying information.

Topicals Labeling

must list your ingredients for the entry on the Entry Detail form you receive during entry dropoff, as well as a 50-word description of the estimated dosage and anticipated effects. Please have this information readily on hand when you arrive.
